About Us
A purple powder, a workshop in Aix-en-Provence
Ubedia was born of a simple obsession: bringing ube to Europe — the purple yam that the Philippines have been cooking with for generations, in family halayas, in ice creams, in Sunday brioches. A mild flavour, somewhere between vanilla, hazelnut and chestnut. And that colour, of course.
What we actually do
We import our ube powder through a direct supply chain from the Visayas, in the Philippines — the Kinampay variety, grown for its taste, not for the photo. It reaches us in Aix-en-Provence, where our small team checks it batch by batch and packs it by hand into our resealable pouches.
One single ingredient: purple yam. No additives, no colourings, no added sugar, no hidden flavourings. If it is purple, it is because the plant is purple.
Who is it for?
For everyone who makes their own lattes at home, their weekend baking, their morning bowls. And for professionals — cafés, ice cream makers, pastry chefs — who want a colour and a taste that nobody else has on the menu: our professional formats are designed for them.
Our commitments
Traceability first: every batch is tracked from the farm to the pouch, and our technical data sheets are available on request. Transparency next: we do not claim any certification we do not hold, and we would rather tell you exactly what is in the pouch — 100 % purple yam, nothing else. And taste, finally: if a harvest does not convince us, it does not go into production.
